When was the last time you saw posts in your Facebook News Feed that actually matter to you? I know for a fact, that the social network fails to match the interests and interactions of its users most of the time. Using their own formula of recommended posts has proven to be an ineffective method to keep Facebook users satisfied. Certainly, people know better than any algorithm what they like to see and who to follow. That’s way the platform has loosen its ends a bit by giving us the power of choosing which posts to see first in the News Feed.
The new feature allows prioritization of pages and friends whose posts users would like to read first in their News Feed. However, after all customized posts you’d view the rest of your News Feed as you normally would.
See First is currently available for desktop, iOS and Android. It’s quick and easy to setup your customization on any device.
Now here comes a very important question: will brands and fan pages benefit from this update? As we mentioned in a previous article, the new feature creates a quite volatile situation for pages. Usually, people go on Facebook to connect with friends and family, or to read news articles on topics their interested in. However, even though everyone follows pages or brands they like, they might not consider it as priority to see their posts first. Consequently, organic reach will remain low and admins still need to consider paid promotion and constant update on content to maximize effectiveness. So pretty much nothing changes, unless your page is awesome and your followers decide to “see it first” in their News Feed.
